About Us

History

Global Neighbor was founded with a single mission: to reduce chemical usage around the home and farm. Starting in Central State University’s Sustainability Incubator and through intense research, our directed energy technology was discovered and was supported for further development by the US Air Force. Our first commercial product from all this research is a handheld DE tool, now called the Weederase. This handheld product is licensed to Viatek Consumer Products Group and being sold in many online and catalog retailers.

As we improved our DE technology for the lawn and garden market, farmers worldwide began to take note of its potential to solve agricultural issues. These farmers faced difficulties with herbicide-resistant weeds, weed-control labor costs, and glyphosate environmental concerns. GNI is focused on addressing and mitigating these critical challenges.

Meet the Team

We are a diverse group of people who have come together because of our passion for and commitment to protecting the earth and its environment.

Before founding GNI, Jon Jackson, President, worked as engineering manager and business director while at Spectra Physics and Greenfield Solar. While there, he led the development and commercialization of products for world markets

GNI, based in Dayton, Ohio, is in close proximity to some of the nation’s leading grain and produce farmers. This location allows us to maintain close relationships with farmers across the Midwest who serve as advisory members. Their valuable input provides us with a deep understanding of farming and access to field test sites.

Global Neighbor, Inc’s Directed Energy (DE) weed control technology was developed with support from the US Air Force SBIR Program (Phase 1 and Phase 2).

Global Neighbor, Inc’s agriculture products are being developed with support from the USDA SBIR Program (Phase 1).
